Mathieson Jr’s appointment, first proposed in August 2025, takes effect immediately. His addition to the board comes as The Star continues its broader governance reform efforts under the oversight of regulators in New South Wales and Queensland. At the same time, The Star announced that Michael Issenberg, an independent non-executive director since 2022, will step down from the board following the company’s Annual General Meeting later this year.
